Remarks: For this season is Spitfire in marking of the czechoslovak fighter ace WWII. F/Lt Otto Smik DFC - sq. leader 312. sq. was on this Spit (orig. r/n ML 296 - HF.MK.IX version) shot down by flak during strafing on Gilze-Rijen AB 3.9.1944 (Ramrod 1258). After emergency landing escaped captivity and returned to England. Died 28. 11. 1944 as sq. leader 127. sq. during a raid on the station in Zwolle, where he was again shot down by flak.
