| Remarks: | This Spitfire built in November 1944 and assigned in January 1945 the Canadian No 430 Squadron based at Eindhoven in Holland where it flew with the G9-X code. RM927 is one of the few Griffon-powered Spitfires to have been engaged on the European front in combat and reconnaissance missions. On 9 March 1945, while being flown by Flight Lieutenant Stevens, RM927 was damaged by flak just behind the cockpit, resulting in its withdrawal from the front. In November 1947, it was sold to the Belgian Air Force. It was based in Florennes with the 1st squadron and flew under the serial designation SG-25 and the code designation 3R-D. Subsequently, it was operated by the École de Chasse in Koksijde on the North Sea coast. In 1954 it was scrapped. It had an accident in 1952, was not repaired and was withdrawn from service in 1954. more info: https://www.key.aero/article/combat-veteran-spitfire-flies-uk HISTORICAL AIRSHOW 2026 | |||
